On April 2nd, Washington's Governor Gregoire signed the Children's Safe Products Act into law, making Washington the nation's leader in keeping toxic chemicals out of toys. This bill was given active support by the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA), a Luminary Project Beacon and Nurse Luminary and WSNA Environmental Health Specialist, Karen Bowman.  Despite massive pressure from the toy industry to veto the bill, Governor Gregoire responded to the thousands of parents and other concerned Washingtonians who asked her to sign the legislation.
